Seventy-six: Sneeze

He makes me meet his sister,
his distant cousin,
his best friend.
Testing, testing one, two
but I can’t be counted consecutively.

He makes me meet him at eleven,
at midnight,
then he makes me wait
waiting, waiting one, two
but
just how patient do you think I am?

Take it, sit down, relax,
and I do,
all the while wondering
when my backbone will
spring
me back up to slap back.

It’s just the way I am,
I just am and
it’s ok put unwanted questions into bubbles so I can pop them.

He makes me wait,
abstinent hard,
while I wonder
how soon
I’m going
to be
just
another
newspaper clipping
collecting dust
in his closet.

You see,
sooner
or
later
I’m
going
to

sneeze.
